The story of how we got our name comes later. I met Chris Pike a year or so ago (I lost my grasp of time a while back). I kept seeing these ukelele posts from this guy named Chris Pike. I have an uneasy relationship with facebook but sometimes it comes through. We became friends because playing music is what we do most all the time. Because of Chris, I ventured to the Campfire Jam at the Spillway that convenes every other Thursday. When i went, i met Jeff Honeycutt, who is the host. It turns out he was a former  student of mine at McDowell Tech, but that’s another story, and if I go down that rabbit hole no telling where I’ll end up. Anyway, after going a few times, this girl got up and sang harmony to “Wagon Wheel,” of all songs, and she was very good, I told my wife, Yergler, “You know, she’s good.” A few weeks later she sang with her uke, “Follow Your Arrow” by Kasey Musgraves, and I thought, this could be a nice collaboration. I talked to Chris because we were meeting and doing this oddball fiddle and whistle combo at the coffee shop or amphitheater, and he was open to it. Oh yeah, one night she sang John Prine’s “Angel From Mongomery, so I think I asked her to join us, maybe for “Angel,” I actually don’t remember, so maybe Chris or Karen remembers. But I remember it felt very right, and now we are on this musical journey together. Our name comes from a misheard lyric of a John Prine song, but that’s a different rabbit hole.

We do an eclectic mix of covers and originals. Come and hear Chris Pike’s melodic bass playing, vocals and whistle. I play guitar, and sing a few of my original songs, but Karen’s voice is at the center of what we do. She has a beautiful voice that’s perfect for our eclectic mix of the songs (John Prine, Sheryl Crow, Linda Ronstadt, Kim Richey, Miranda Lambert, Bonnie Raitt, and others).

So this is us. I think you are the type of person who would like our performances. And now we are doing an album. So I am going to document this process and the original songs we are doing. The album is finished and we should have the songs ready to release by August. Thanks to us
